Memphis Grizzlies lose Jaren Jackson Jr. as playoff hopes fade further

The Memphis Grizzlies' already slim playoff hopes took another hit with the addition of Jaren Jackson Jr. to the injured list. Jackson Jr. posted a double-double against the Phoenix Suns, but a right knee contusion will keep him out for the foreseeable future. This comes on the heels of the team's struggles with star point guard Ja Morant also out for the season with an injury.

Jackson Jr.'s absence leaves a huge hole in the Grizzlies' lineup, especially on both ends of the court. His defense and scoring ability will be crucial to the team's success. Nonetheless, there is a glimmer of hope with the additions of Desmond Bain and Marcus Smart, who are both known for their defensive tenacity. With Smart averaging 2.1 steals per game and Bain averaging 1.1 steals per game, they could fill some defensive holes.

The biggest concern for the Grizzlies right now is how to replace Jackson Jr.'s offensive prowess. Finding a big man who can provide efficient scoring and rebounding alongside Bain and Smart will be key to their survival in the competitive Western Conference.

Despite the challenges, the Grizzlies' fighting spirit should not be underestimated. They have overcome adversity before, and as long as Bane, Smart and the rest of the team step up, they still have a fighting chance.
