Former Montana Basketball Star Anthony Johnson Dies at 34

Cause of death.

Former University of Montana men's basketball star Anthony Johnson died on November 1, 2023 at the age of 34 years. His wife, shooting guard Audrey Johnson, confirmed the news on social media.

Johnson reportedly suffered a stroke on October 21, 2023 while celebrating his daughter's birthday. He was rushed to the hospital but died on November 1st.

Basketball career

Johnson played college basketball at the University of Montana from 2008 to 2010. He was named Big Sky Conference Rookie of the Year in his first season.

Johnson is best known for his performance in the 2010 Big Sky Conference Championship Game, where he scored 34 points in the second half to lead the Grizzlies to victory. He was also named Tournament MVP.

After college, Johnson played professional basketball in Europe and Japan. in 2017, he returned to the U.S. to coach basketball.
